F. Chase Taylor, Jr. 1921 - 2007 |
It is with great sadness that I report to you the passing of Frederick Chase Taylor, Jr., the son of 'Col. Stoopnagle,' and a great man in his own right. If it hadn't been for Mr. Taylor's trust in me and his generosity in loaning me his father's scrapbooks, this website would not be here. I am especially sad that I could not, at least in his lifetine, bring the Stoopnagle saga to the printed page, as he had hoped. "If you don't tell his story, no one will," he told me, during our first meeting in 1996. I tried, but the Colonel seems to have been too esoteric for 'modern' publishers. And that's why I turned to the web. In a way, this medium is fitting in that, like radio, folks sort of 'tune in' while web surfing. And I pledge to remain here, honoring both Taylors, Sr. and Jr., as long as I can. Here is Mr. Taylor's obituary from the Rochester, NY Democrat and Chronicle newspaper as it appeared on October 3, 2007 (just one day before his father's birthday!). Taylor, F.
